Christmas Gang Show Sat 6th December 2008 For the 8th successive year Knaphill Scouts and Guides put on an evening of fun song and dance showing off their thespian skills! The evening was masterminded by Gill Cooper who co-ordinated a variety of acts on an International theme. There were penguins from the Antartic, the Banana Boat Song from the Caribbean, an American medley from the Guides, a Rolf Harris lookalike competition, The Lion and Mouse Fable from Africa to name but a few. The hall was packed with enthusiastic

supporters and a fun family evening was had by all. Particular thanks to Gill for organising the event, Denise, Tracey, Abigail and Luke for setting up, Piers for all his help with the lighting and John for help with the sound (and his cameo role in the Beaver’s sketch!). Many thanks also to the army of parent helpers who served refreshments and helped with the raffle. |

Family Fun Quiz Night Sat 28th February 2009 Another fantastic turnout for the family quiz night. Well done to the winners, the Legg family, with a fantastic score of 127 out of 160 and to the joint runners up with a score of 121: the Spencer family, the McAlister family and the Scott/Crane family. We raised £150 which will be split between the two charities that Beavers and Cubs are collecting for: Haven and Comic Relief. |

St.Georges Day Celebration 2008 Well done to everyone who turned out for the short hike on Chobham Common for our St.Georges Day celebration this year. It was great to have so many families join us. The weather held for the renewal of the promises and all had a good soaking on the walk back! (pictured: GSL Martin Dunham leading the renewal of promises)

Family Camp Sat 20th-21st Sept 2008 Birchmere Campsite What a fantastic weekend! Our first Knaphill Family Camp was a resounding success and thoroughly enjoyed by all. Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers and their families enjoyed a fun weekend giving many families their first taste of Scout camp. They took part in a wide range of activities including rifle shooting, negotiating a rope bridge, backwoods cooking, and water rockets. After a raucous campfire families took part in a wide game in the dark and then settled down with cocoa and cake before heading for their tents. The sun rose early again on Sunday and after a hearty breakfast families set off orienteering around Wisley Common. The camp finished with Scouts Own and the presentation of medals & certificates. Many thanks to all those who helped to make it such a success. |

Firebird Challenge 2008 The Firebird Challenge this year was to make a raft to support Action Man. Rafts were made during the afternoon at camp and then judged after dinner. All rafts were excellent and all could carry one Action Man. We lost a few in the second round with 2 Action Men. The third round was to carry a tin of beans!! After a few tense moments we emerged with a winner in each section. Congratulations to : Beaver: JJ, Cub: Thomas W, Scouts: Luke & Sam and well done to all the other entrants |
