DISTRICT CUB SCIENCE DAY GOES OFF WITH A BANG! ….
Cubs enjoyed a full day of fun and exciting activities at the District Science Day. They found out how to work out the energy a Mars bar will give you and how many minutes of walking you get from it, they learned about acids and alkalis and got to taste lemon juice and red cabbage, they blew up vinegar bombs, made motors from a battery, copper wire and a magnet and got to look at some creepy crawly bugs under the microscope.
Some of the exciting demonstrations by the leaders involved blowing the lid off a big paint tin by lighting some gas inside it, making a paint tin shrivel up by heating it up and then cooling it rapidly! All this was in the name of science fun! Hopefully they learned why these things happened but also enjoyed finding them out!
