CUBS SKILLS CAMP ….

Date: 18th Oct 2018 Author: Tracey Daniell

Cubs had an exciting Skills Camp which began with some investitures in the woods!  It was great having some first time campers and the first skill they had to use was navigation, the hiking was in small groups for approximately 7 km from the start point in East Clandon to the campsite on Ranmore Common.  On arrival at camp tents were put up and dinner cooked on Trangias, they always enjoy cooking their tea themselves.  The cubs then had an imaginary campfire as it was a bit too wet to have a real fire and it was getting late, they sang the usual songs and had some fun before bed.  They were up early the next morning and cooked their bacon rolls, packed up and set off on a shorter hike along the common and through Denbies Wine Estate to the pick-up point near the bottom of Box Hill.  They had a great weekend and despite the very wet weather on Sunday some of the words they used to describe the camp were: awesome, fantastic, stupendous, exciting, adventurous.
