DISTRICT BEAVER & SQUIRREL FUN DAY…….

Date: 22nd Jun 2026 Author: Tracey Daniell

Beavers & Squirrels celebrated their 40th and 5th birthdays respectively with a Fun Day at Mizen’s Railway.  They had a great time with unlimited train rides, visit to the signal box, visits to the engine sheds and rides on the traction engine alongside lots of fun activities provided by Beaver and Squirrel leaders.  Thank you to Geraldine and the District team for hosting such a fun day for everyone.

Report by Beaver, Harry:

I liked going to Mizens.  My favourite activities were the bouncy house, train rides and football.  The weather wasn’t promising but that didn’t spoil all the fun!  I set an unbeatable record on the digital orienteering where you have to run around and find the right numbers.  I did it in 37 seconds!  The leaders couldn’t believe I did it right so they asked me to do it again & I did it in 38seconds! I got a bit confused about the letters scattered around.  I think the most popular thing was the train with no rails (steam traction engine).  My brother is a squirrel & he went too.  One of the Squirrel leaders did an activity with the actions of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and said I was the most enthusiastic because everyone else was taking it as a joke!

Squirrel Iris said:   I loved the huge bubbles and that we could go on the trains as often as we liked.
