GROUP CAMP 2018 – WHAT A SCORCHER!

Date: 11th Jul 2018 Author: Tracey Daniell

Beavers, Cubs & Scouts all camped together at Bentley Copse at the beginning of July on one of the hottest weekends of the year! A fun weekend full of activities for all, including caving, archery, climbing, shooting, soap carving, whittling, orienteering, assaullt course and loads more.  Mixed teams from all sections were also set an ‘Apprentice’ style challenge to design & make a biscuit brand & design a magazine and tv advert. Competition was fierce between the teams & their presentations were all very creative & entertaining!  Team ‘iCave’ won with Team ‘Bibidibobitydoo’ coming a close second.  During the afternoon we were lucky enough to join a jamboree team who had a projector showing the England v Sweden match in the cool of the woods which pleased our footie fans!  The jamboree team came to our campfire along with 5th Guildford with all sections taking part in a variety of songs & skits, all showing supreme confidence. Beaver Scout Harry said ‘this is just the best camp ever, I love everything!’  We have a fantastic leader/helper team who pull together to make these big camps happen but thanks especially to Akela Karen for masterminding the organisation – a great success.
