JAMBOREE ON THE AIR/INTERNET….
Report by Scout Edison …..
A few weeks ago I attended my first J.O.T.I. (Jamboree on the internet) and J.O.T.A (Jamboree on the air). The purpose of these events are to communicate with members of the Scout Association around the world. Using a Scout chat website, I talked to a scout in Brazil, a Scout in South Korea and finally a Explorer in Siberia. Using the internet to reach a radio repeater in Canada, I spoke to a Scout Leader in Toronto. Other Scouts at the event used the radio to broadcast directly to Europe. From them I learned how different time zones can be across the world. When talking to the Russian Scout, for example, it was 00:05, whereas it was 16:05 locally.
The map above shows the countries we contacted during the event.
I had a lot of fun doing it (thank you leaders)
