NEW YEAR GOOD TURN ……

Date: 5th Jan 2019 Author: Tracey Daniell

Members of 1st Knaphill Scout Group came out in force on Saturday to start the New Year with a good turn by taking part in our annual village litter pick.

Beavers, Cubs, Scouts & their families scoured the streets and parks of Knaphill for litter & collected over 20 full bin bags.  As ever we found a number of unusual items alongside the usual cans, sweet wrappers & cigarette ends. This year we also found a TV, a chair and a supermarket basket..

Group Scout Leader Tracey Daniell commented ‘it is great to see our members get so involved in community work which all counts towards badgework.

They all enjoy the challenge of picking up the smallest things with the litter pickers. It is quite an eye opener to see just how much litter is out there but we are pleased to report that overall there seemed to be less litter on the streets than we have found before,. We are indebted to Woking Borough Council local  neighbourhood officer Kate Wilson for supporting us.  Not only does she bring along litter pickers and arrange for the rubbish to be collected, she also joins in. It is great to have her support.’

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
