SCOUTABOUT …..

Date: 3rd Jul 2024 Author: Tracey Daniell

On Friday we went down to the campsite in mini buses and around 25 of us slept in a big mess tent! This normally doesn’t happen as we sleep in our own tents on regular camps. In the evening there were fireworks and music at the main stage!

The next day there were many activities that we could take part in with our friends. These included a wipe out, obstacle course, climbing, escape rooms, driving, archery, axe throwing, etc. However, my favourite activity was the black hole caving experience where you had to go through tight gaps and under water to escape!

It was really crowded as there were over 5000 Scouts attending Scoutabout from all across Surrey! At the end of Scoutabout there was a massive ceremony where all the Scouts and Guides came together to say thank you to organisers and leaders. Scoutabout is such a fun and exciting experience and everyone in scouting should at least go once.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
