SCOUT’S CANOEING EXPEDITON

Date: 29th Oct 2021 Author: Tracey Daniell

Report by Scout Luke…

Canoeing with Scouts was great fun, it started at 10:30 and this is what happened. We arrived on the outskirts of Guildford (next to the canal). Then we got into our buoyancy aids and warmed up whilst we waited for Roger (one of the County Scout Leaders). When Roger arrived, we started to put our boats into the water; then we started to paddle down the river until the first lock, where we had to pull our boats out of the water and put them back in the other side. At the second lock (12:00) we took our boats out the water and had lunch, after that we launched our boats (with only 2 people falling in). Later that day we came across another lock which at the same time was being opened by a boat. The owner of the boat taught us how to open the gate and we had a go at opening it too. After that we had another lock that led to someone else falling in. At 5:00pm we pulled up to Send Scout Hut (just outside Woking) we got out of the boats, some of us still a bit wet, but all very happy and personally I enjoyed it a lot.
